Do What Is In Front of You
Life is life.
Remember the words of John Lennon, "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans."
We think we have it all under control. Every day we consult our "List of Things to Do," and we proceed. Then, things happen to remind us that we have absolutely no control whatsoever. For me, last month was a perfect example. First, my printer stopped printing black only. Huh? Who knew! Then, my computer completely stopped. It had to get it admitted to the computer hospital for five days! Ouch! Talk about going through withdrawal. I finally get it back. Believe it or not, my printer starts printing black again! Then, the next day a family member was rushed into a real human hospital. The printer and computer became less important, as did the deadlines or the "List" itself. I needed to conserve all the energy I could.
Two weeks passed as if it was two days. Thankfully, things are now kind of under control... nothing that I had to do with, mind you.
Life is life. It can become stressful and in turn make us anxious. That proverbial "List" can easily get longer when we just don't have the time to deal with it. Deadlines will pass. And, there will be days that we are just grateful to get through 5:30 PM (17:30 for my European friends). How can we get it all done? The answer: We do.
We have remember that there will always be a "List", and there will always be things to add to it. Whenever we get to that moment when normal breathing resumes, we just have to start hitting the List and do only the first thing on it... that one thing that is in front of us at that time. Don't tackle the List all at once. Can't happen... it doesn't work that way. One thing at a time. Slow and steady wins the race.
My next task, you may ask? Well, here in the U.S. taxes are due by April 15th... Argh! So, my March homework is sorting my taxes out. Your homework? Just do want is in front of you. Accomplish just one important thing... and maybe for you it's your taxes too.
